Igor Kufayev was exploring the spatial relationship between displayed objects and their observers, especially where the artefacts are visible but tantalisingly unapproachable.

The idea was developed with Peter Ayley to become a structure whereby a hollow stone cube is discovered inside a hollow glass cone. No entry is available to the interior of the cube, but the artefacts are visible through four vertical slits in the faces of the cube.

The monument is intended to be sited on a hilltop and constructed from blocks of cast glass bedded in lime. The lower blocks are 100% recycled glass and the pinnacle 100% new polished clear glass. The four cardinally orientated doorways are distinguished by a dressing of white alabaster.

The increasing clarity of the glass from base to apex would produce a sublime light to the interior like that beneath a glacier.
